The Department of Ceramic Technology has highly-skilled and experienced staff who engage students in rigorous programmes that simultaneously develop both their conceptual and technical abilities aimed at making them self-reliant and employable. One cardinal purpose of the Department is to hone students to make them self-employed so that they can subsequently train and employ others to reduce the rate of unemployment that the country is experiencing. The Department has three studios where students undertake their practical works. There is also an attached store for art works.
The mission of the Department is to provide a tertiary level education through full-time courses leading to the award of Higher National Diploma Certificate in Ceramics, and, also, to encourage research in ceramics.
The vision of the Department is to achieve excellence in the production of human resources so as to promote growth in industrialisation and research in Ghana.
The overall goal of the Department is to turn out well trained career-oriented graduates who are well equipped with practical skills for self-employment and who can fit into management positions.
The key obejectives of the Department are to:
1. produce candidates with practical skills and attitudes required to enhance Ghana’s industrialisation drive; and
2. harness candidates’ creative thinking abilities in order to lead to better working standards in all their fields of endeavour;
